The Services Sector Education and Training Authority (Services SETA) has launched a major Real Estate Learnership Programme that gives young South Africans an opportunity to gain qualifications and experience.
The initiative has enrolled 200 learners in Mpumalanga after receiving strong interest from the youth in the province.
Services SETA Administrator Lehlogonolo Masoga welcomed the successful applicants to the programme and said high demand for opportunities in the real estate sector had been evidenced.
According to Masoga, this was demonstrated by the 5,795 applications received from young people across 17 municipalities in Mpumalanga.
The applications showcase the demand for training and opportunities from young people in the property industry, while also showing the imbalance between demand and supply.
“This is an indication of the appetite by young people for property-related careers,” said Masoga.
He added that the figures also showed the extent to which supply was unable to meet demand for training initiatives in the sector.
R300 Million Invested in Real Estate Training
Services SETA has invested R300 million in the drive to deliver the Real Estate Learnership Programme, supporting its national rollout initiative.
The figure will fund further provincial launches of the programme, with the current launch in Mpumalanga set to benefit 200 learners.
The training initiative gives young people an opportunity to gain a qualification in real estate, and relevant experience to prepare them for a career in the property space.
The learners in Mpumalanga who have enrolled on the programme will receive an NQF Level 4 qualification in Real Estate.
